Weight Loss Programs, Take Your Measurements Regularly

How can you ever know how you are doing if you don’t have anything to compare your progress to?

When you even start a weight loss program, it is a good idea to get yourself completely prepared.

Here are some tips and ideas to get you jump started on the path to a successful weight loss program.

To get started right you will want to start first thing in the morning of your start date and weigh yourself and take measurements.

Make sure to measure your chest, waist, stomach, hips, both thighs, both knees, both calves, and both biceps. Write all your measurements and weight down where you can keep track of them.

The reason you want to make sure and have all your measurements is so you can keep track of your success not only by the weight you have lost but also in the inches lost. Many times, you will lose inches before weight, so by knowing your measurements you may be able to see a loss of inches before you see any weight loss.

It can also be helpful to keep a weight loss journal. In this journal you can include your goals, list what you eat each day, and your weekly weight and measurements. This will help you to stay on track and see your results.

Do not make impossible goals for yourself.

Start with small goals like; say you will lose 5 pounds. Even if you have 50 pounds to lose, setting a goal of only 5 pounds at a time will make it easier to achieve and help you keep a positive attitude. Each time you achieve a goal it will help build your self-confidence that you can do it.

Act as if you have already achieved your goal. Go out to clothing stores and look at clothing a few sizes smaller and imagine yourself wearing them. Make sure to keep a positive attitude and tell yourself often throughout each day that you can do it, that you are doing it.

Make up a list of small rewards that you can allow yourself when you achieve each milestone. Each time you lose 5 pounds, reward yourself with something on your list.

By giving yourself a reward it helps to keep you motivated to keep going for the next 5 pounds.

Before you get started, do a good housecleaning of your fridge and pantry. In other words, clean out all the high fat, high calorie and junk foods. Start filling your fridge with healthier choices for the particular program you are starting.

Plan your meals and make your shopping list from those plans so that you have everything you need. Stock the house with healthy foods to help you achieve your weight loss goals, and you will stray less…

Your best bet for success is to determine that you really want this. Have several compelling reasons why you want to drop that weight.

Before you can succeed in any weight loss program, you have to determine that you are ready, and that it is very important for you to succeed. You can make it. Just remember all you have to do is take it one day at a time in order to succeed.
